| Without Rafael Artesero, Andorra’s song wouldn’t exist. And without his terrific enthusiasm for the Eurovision Song Contest, the music he composes wouldn’t exist.
In fact, this will be his second time as a composer in the Song Contest. He also wrote ‘La Mirada Interior’ (‘Your Inner Eyes’), the song that represented Andorra in 2005.
But he has had experience of Eurovision before. Two of his songs have competed in the Spanish pre-selection contest: one in 2001, sung by himself, and another in 2003, called ‘Mi razón de vivir’ (‘My Reason for Living’). This was performed by Ainhoa, the winner of Operation Triumph that year.
The Song Contest has always been very important to Rafael. He was born in Bilbao into a very musical family. In fact, he and his brother formed a musical duo called ‘Piano Piano’, which found great success with the song ‘Amor Prohibido’ (‘Forbidden Love’).
Later, however, he decided to compose on his own and he began to explore gospel and Negro spiritual songs in his song-writing. He has never stopped writing songs and producing records, as he did in 2004 with Anabel Conde (who came second in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1995).
Rafa, Andorra could not have done it WITHOUT YOU! |
