| Rafael Artesero, music and lyrics
Rafael Artesero was born in Bilbao, into a household where music was a constant presence. In his childhood and youth, he took part in numerous music and singing competitions and was very successful. As an adult he formed the duo Piano Piano with his brother Fernando, and they wrote and recorded their first album ‘Dentro de Ti’, a work which became very popular in Ibiza. ‘Amor Prohibido’, one of the songs on this album, reached number 1 on various radio stations in the Balearics and also in the Basque country. After this, Rafael Arteso changed his tune and decided to go for a career on his own with an album of Negro spiritual songs, most of them classic songs and some of his own creation. In 2001, he produced an album of funk, dance, pop and reggae rhythms, and one of its songs – quite a sensation among Spanish Eurovision fans – was shortlisted to be the Eurovision entry for Spain. In 2003, his song ‘Mi Razon De Vivir’ was shortlisted to be performed by Ainhoa (the winner of that year’s Operation Triumph) as the Spanish song for Eurovision, but again it was not the final choice. In 2004, he produced an album sung by Anabel Conde (who came second in the Eurovision Song Contest 1995).
Daniel Aragay, lyrics
Daniel Aragay was born in Terrassa, Barcelona in 1972. His first contact with music was at the age of five when he started to play the piano and began studying at the Music Conservatory in Terrassa. A great lover of music, he composed several themes and ‘jingles’ for a radio station where he works as presenter and producer. He holds various positions – including cameraman and producer – at the Terrassa Municipal Television and he works with radio stations such as FlaixBac, Radio Club 25, Radio Terrassa, Radio Barcelona and Radio 4. Daniel has also directed his own short films. In 1998, with Rafael Fernandez, he set up the website eurofestival.net, motivated by his passion for Eurovision. In 2002, he was invited to be a jury member for Operation Triumph (Operacion Triunfo) and, in 2004, he went to the Eurovision festival for the first time with Rafael Fernandez to report for R7P, Radio Valira, Radio Club 25 and Radio 4.
