| On Saturday 28th February viewers of BBC ONE’s blockbusting new format to choose a song, ‘Eurovision - Making Your Mind Up’, overwhelmingly voted for James Fox to represent them at this year’s contest in Turkey when he stole the show with his passionate performance of ‘Hold On To Our Love’.
James says he’s still "incredibly honoured and totally gob-smacked by the support" he received that night.
Born in the Welsh town of Bargoed, 27 year old James started his music career early and by the age of just 16 was playing the tough pub and club circuit in Wales. After an apprenticeship of gigs and session work, James made his TV debut last year on the second series of the BBC’s “Fame Academy”, showcasing his versatility with fantastic covers of Crowded House’s classic ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ and Travis’ ‘Why Does It Always Rain On Me’.
After James had “the call” to be part of the Eurovision story he was, at first, hesitant; "after ‘Fame Academy’ I thought I'd have to be mad to put myself through the voting ordeal again but I went for it because I absolutely love ‘Hold Onto Our Love’ and I’m very proud to have been selected by the British public to represent my country”.
James also knew that he’d made the right decision when a staggering 7.5 million viewers tuned into BBC ONE’s ‘Eurovision - Making Your Mind Up’ and gave him almost 50% of the vote!
Since winning, James has been signed by Sony Music, promoted ‘Hold On To Our Love’ across Europe and toured the UK with 1969 Eurovision victor Lulu…who’s bound to have given Mr Fox a few winning tips! |
