| Jari Sillanpää is one of the most successful performing artists in Finland. The beginning of his career can be traced back to the Seinäjoki Tango Festival in 1994, when he won the ‘Tango Prince’ title. His success story, however, began one year later when he won the competition and was crowned ‘Tango King’.
Over the years Jari has achieved almost everything an artist can hope for. He has released eight albums, various singles, a documentary video and two books have been written about him. In total he has recorded over 100 songs. Most of the songs are soft pop but there are also a few tangos and evergreens among the recordings. Jari performed one of the leading roles in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, “Aspects of Love,” at the Seinäjoki theatre. He has won The Press Choice Award in the “The Golden Stag” international song contest held in Rumania.
He also won the Finnish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and he has won several Emma Awards. Jari is constantly on tour around Finland with his orchestra and time after time all the concert halls where he performs are sold out.

Jari’s 8th album was released on the 12 September 2003.
It is a rich and varied album using a wide range of music styles and every piece of the album is unique. The melodies, entertaining rhythms and Jari’s sensitivity give a very interesting touch to the album.
HÄN KERTOO SEN SÄVELIN
One month after its release, this album went platinum and received a Finnish Grammy nomination. “In my concerts I’ve sung these old songs and there have been many requests that I would record them as well. This gave me an inspiration to record these wonderful evergreens,” says Jari.
MAA ON NIIN KAUNIS
Jari’s second Christmas album, Maa on niin kaunis, was released in 2000. This sentimental album contains beautiful and well-known Christmas songs from over the years. Maa on niin kaunis was chosen as the year’s best Christmas album in 2000.
ONNENETSIJÄ
Jari released this album in 1999. It was the beginning of a new musical direction for him and the album immediately sold platinum.
VARASTETUT HELMET
This live recording, in cooperation with Markku Johansson and the Vantaa Pop Orchestra, is filled with well-known international evergreens from throughout the years. The album is a compilation of the songs that have influenced Jari’s life and career. The recording has been a success and went platinum.
AURINGONNOUSU
This album is a mixture of very different music styles. Based on this album, Jari staged a spectacular tour around Finland. Great scenography, professional dancers and backing vocals alongside a huge orchestra made this show the first of its kind in Finland. The album became the 9th best-selling album in Finnish history.
HYVÄÄ JOULUA
In 1996 Jari released his first Christmas album. It is an emotional creation and filled with both new compositions and familiar ones. This album made it to number 14 in the Finnish album charts.

This is without doubt Jari’s best known and most popular album containing hits like Satulinna, Kaduilla tuulee, Oot täydellinen and Pariisi-Helsinki.
